idf – A New Player in the Field of Demographic Research

Founding the idf (Institute for a Better Demographic Future)

In Germany, demographic research is constantly under represented. While there are 50 professorships for demography in France, 20 in Italy, 10 each in Belgium and the Netherlands and 5 in Spain, Germany has only three. Apart from that, research institutions beyond university walls are also less prevalent here than in other countries, therefore giving Germany a need for independent institutions such as the idf.
